December 5, 2019, Fargo, ND — An Alberta woman, who was trampled while moving horses at North Dakota University’s Equine Centre, has died as a result of her injuries. North Dakota media have reported that Kimberley Rae Elliott was kicked and trampled by a horse on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

Reports state that Elliott, 57 years old, a horse transporter out of Okotoks, Alberta, was loading horses, something she’s done thousands of times. One of the horses kicked out and knocked her to the floor, then panicked, trampling her as she lay on the floor.

Sarah Champoux of WPS Transport, who worked with Elliott periodically over her 20 years of shipping horses, said it is a reality check for anyone who does that work for a living. Champoux posted the following comment on Facebook: “Dealing with young, untrained, feisty horses or even the weather all leads to a not so easy career choice.”

Our heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends of Kimberley Elliot on their tragic loss.
