Canadian Horse Journal and its talented editorial team receives top honours for editorial excellence each year during the American Horse Publications (AHP) Equine Media Awards. AHP Equine Media Awards are the premier awards within the equine media industry, and AHP has been honouring excellence in equine media since 1975.

The excitement is building as national championships are set to return to the Royal Horse Show to celebrate its centennial year! Just as show season is ramping up, Equestrian Canada (EC) is setting its sights on how it will culminate. Now six months away, EC’s national championships will be a part of the 100th anniversary celebrations during the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, returning to Toronto’s Exhibition Place November 4 to 13, 2022.

The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair held in Brandon, Manitoba from March 28 to April 2, 2022 was a welcome event for all the horse community. Cancelled in 2020 and 2021, a flood of entries came in for 2022 with riders out in full force in both hunter and jumper rings. The competition officially started in the Hunter Ring on Saturday, March 25. Although riders were mainly from Manitoba, entries also came from across Canada and the midwest United States. Many old friendships were renewed.

The first few months of 2022 have been extremely busy for the Canadian Quarter Horse Association (CQHA), its members, and its board of directors. The American Quarter Horse Association’s (AQHA) annual convention was hosted in Las Vegas, NV in February, which resulted in five new Canadian AQHA directors being appointed for the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. Work also began there to start promoting CQHA hosted, Canadian Quarter Horse breeding farm and ranch tours to international guests for summer 2022 and 2023, an endeavour to promote and export the quality genetics and Quarter Horses that Canada produces.

A New National Program to Support Canadian AQHA Sanctioned Shows and Amateur Exhibitors - The Canadian Quarter Horse Association (CQHA), the Canadian affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), and representative of the largest breed population within the Canadian herd, is pleased to announce the launch of the Canadian National Amateur Team Tournament (CNATT). This program is the first of its kind and its purpose is to nurture Canada’s quarter horse show industry as we recover from the effects of the last two years.
