Horse Day will be your one-stop horse shop on Saturday June 8 in Erin, Ontario. This event is a collaboration of businesses and organizations in the Erin community and will be a celebration of “all things horse.” Horse Day will take place at the Erin Fairgrounds, and will also be a fundraiser for the Erin Agricultural Society’s building accessibility project.
Ontario Extreme Cowboy, the event’s anchor partner will host a full day clinic on Saturday, presented by Alberta cowboy, David Cowley. David is best known for taking his horse up the Calgary Tower at the Stampede, and is only horse and rider team known to have crossed the glass bridge in Jasper National Park. Over 60 horse and rider teams will compete for prizes and ribbons in a sanctioned OXC Race (being held on Sunday).
Horse Day Erin will be a family event starting off with a Cowboy Breakfast and featuring special attraction Bishop’s Wild West Show and four-horse bareback Roman riding and trick riding, and Bold Canine’s Mega Dogs agility show. David Cowley will present Two Way Trusted Horsemanship with his horse, Tucker. Kids’ activities will include pony rides, a petting zoo, games, and a chance to meet a real unicorn. Erin’s horse heritage will be highlighted with a display of archive photos, vintage tack, and horse-related antiques, and will feature the vintage Erin to Guelph stagecoach. Equine educational exhibits and live horse presentations will be showcased in the Show Barn. Outside on the grounds, there will be an equine equipment display, musicians, trade show, and food vendors. Tickets are available online and at Budson’s - Provisions for Country Living in Erin.
